Tim is well-known for producing several of the most admired golf communities in the Southeastern United States featuring world-class golf courses that have received the highest levels of recognition in the industry. While these projects have established Tim’s credibility and standing in the field, he takes great pride in providing sophisticated and sustainable landscape architectural services at any scale.
Tim uses an integrated and intentional approach, backed by more than 35 years of experience. He skillfully masters the art of balancing conscious design with the science of landscape architecture. His projects are developed through a relationship-driven design process, shaped by a process of thoughtful analysis and creative discovery. The end result, whether large or small in scale, is aesthetic and functional excellence, in harmony with the natural surroundings and habitats.
Large-scale projects Tim has designed and developed include Thistle Golf Club, Ocean Ridge Plantation, Brunswick Forest, and St. James Plantation. Tim has also designed all or many of the amenities for these and other projects including numerous golf courses that include Cape Fear National, Leopard’s Chase, Bald Head Island Club, Tiger’s Eye and Thistle.
Tim Cate Designs continues to contribute services to the community when possible, examples include designing memorial gardens, designing the Sunset Beach Gazebo Park and island streetscape, various site designs for projects such as the Sunset Bridge Museum Park and ordinance work.
